FilGoal.com sent a request to Pele and his representatives via email to answer some questions and today we got answers.
You have won 3 World Cup Championships, what is the toughest tournament for you?
Because I was only 17 years old, my first World Cup in 1958 was the most difficult and the most important of the four World Cup tournaments I played in.
A goal you haven't forgotten in your career?
One of my most meaningful goals was my 1000 career goal which was a penalty kick against Vasco de Gama at the Maracaña stadium. It was memorable because I dedicated the goal to the children of Brazil and the world. It was my tribute to our youth, who have always been the basis for our future. I have always dedicated my time and resources to children’s causes, raising awareness for issues that have affect them.
What do you think of the rise of Egypt to the World Cup after the absence of 28 years?
Playing on the Brazilian National team has always been a blessing and send of pride for me. I imagine that is the same feeling for the players on the Egyptian national team. This world cup appearance is very important for Egypt and the players have a very big responsibility.
What do you think of Salah's performance and what does Salah need to continue on this level?
Salah is one of the sport’s great promises. He can be one of the best players in the world.
What is the shot that you will not forget while you were on the pitch?
My most memorable goal was scored at Rua Javari Stadium at a Campeonato match against São Paulo rival Club Atlético Juventus on August 2, 1959.
Who is the best player in the world?
Neymar is the “son” of Brazil. He is the biggest player we have but I am also a big fan of Lionel Messi and I enjoy watching Barcelona play. I get asked this question a lot. I say I am a man of three hearts because the town I was born is called Três Corações, (three hearts). Therefore, Messi, Ronaldo, and Neymar, are my favorites, one to represent each heart.
Who is the player who can be the successor to Messi and Ronaldo in football?
In every generation, great players always emerge.
What do you think of the transfer of Neymar to Paris St Germain?
I think it was necessary for Neymar to leave Barcelona to advance his professional career. I have said it was a good opportunity to play his game and showcase what he is capable of. He can now play as the number 10 and not be overshadowed by Messi. It looks like he will be back at PSG next season, but his focus now will be to lead the Brazilian National Team to a World Cup Win!
What are your expectations for the Brazilian team at the World Cup?
Brazil has always been the best in the world, but I am worried about this national team going to Russia because they have played and trained together for only a short time.
What is the message that Pelé sends to all the players of the world to maintain their level?
I will share what my father, Dondinho, a former player himself, told me from the time I was a child and during my entire career as a player. Never think that you are the best or better than anyone else. There is always someone that is working harder to be better. That applies for sports and for life. Forget about whether people say you are good or not. Always be open to learning and that you can improve. Be yourself and take care of your body, train and remain healthy as well as try to avoid injury.
What coaches do you like the way his team played, and why?
I learned a lot from Vicente Feola who coached me and the Brazilian National team, in the 1958 World Cup.

What do you expect for Egypt and Saudi Arabia in the World Cup?
Qualifying for the biggest global sporting event is a major accomplishment. Both teams should be proud to represent their countries and showcase their game on a world stage. I wish them both good luck.
What is the team that will be the biggest winner of the 2018 World Cup?
I have great confidence in Brazil despite being a young team.
Has Salah had a better season than Neymar?
Well, Salah was instrumental in leading his team Liverpool to a big victory over his former team Roma to land them a spot at the Champions League finals. So, I would say that he had a great season. It was very unfortunate that he was unable to play the entire game as a result of his injury. The dynamic on the field change after he left the field. I empathize with him.
Will the future competition be between Neymar and Salah?
They are in the prime of their careers and it’s exciting to watch them play at the highest level. There are many other players that can be the best in the future.
